At Emblem, we are here to support you through the whole process to help create a design that will deliver results for your business. We crafted this FAQ page to answer many of the frequently asked questions we were asked along the way.

If you would like us to design or develop your website/brand etc. please do not hesitate to Contact Us and we can answer any questions you may have. We can advise you on the best option to suit your needs.

We would require detailed information on your company, the products you sell, the services you provide, to give us a clear picture of who you are, and what your company’s goals are. When we have our Exploration Meeting, to discuss your Business principals, design direction and clarify your goals, among other items, the more information you can provide, the better the outcome of the design.

The project starts with a 50% deposit. After design sign off and before we move into programming, we collect 25%. Once we have completed and fulfilled our scope, the final 25% is collected and your website is then scheduled for launch.

When we create websites, we always aim to keep them search engine friendly. We take time to include many background details that will help the search engines locate your site as quickly as possible, and we also add your site to search engines to generate as much coverage as possible.

This would depend on our workload but it is typically a few weeks. We take on only as many clients as I can properly focus on.

At the very minimum you are looking at a number of hours. The discovery (research) process itself can take quite a while to complete. It is important to keep in mind that the more you are willing to contribute (information about your Business, and Target audience) to the project, the better opportunity we have to succeed.

This shouldn’t happen. Before any visuals are developed, we will develop a written creative direction for you to approve. The visuals developed will follow this approved direction, reducing the risk of miscommunication. Typically only minor revisions are required to a proposed concept (color, type, etc.). Anything beyond revisions would require additional charges, as outlined in our contract.

It is specific to each company and is based on size, requirements, estimated time, deliverables etc. Cost depends on a number of things, but generally scales with the size of the company the branding is being designed for, and the scope of the work required. Larger companies often call for more research, increased deliverables including brand guidelines, and can involve working with a committee of decision makers. Smaller organisations may benefit from assistance in defining their brand, purpose, or positioning. Regardless of your company’s size and needs, this is only a first step. There are plenty of other questions we will cover as we move along so don’t worry if you aren’t being asked a ton of questions at this point. This is merely to determine scope. The more information you can provide in this form, the more accurate the quotation will be.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of increasing the volume or the quality of traffic to your website from search engine result pages (SERPs), resulting in an increased web presence for your website. An increase in the quantity or quality of visitors to your site should convert to increases in enquiries and sales.

Effective SEO involves, among other things, changing the structure and content of your site, increasing the number of inbound links and ensuring that each element in your website is correctly ‘marked up’. There are over 200 different factors that influence your websites position in SERPs. All of our websites come with basic optimisation that will ensure your site is indexed by the major search engines. We offer full search engine optimisation as an additional service which will optimise your existing website or a site that we are developing for you. Having a very highly ranked website requires a lot of additional effort which is why SEO is offered as separate service.

A host is where your website files live. A website consists of a collection of files that must be placed on a publicly accessible server that’s permanently connected to the internet. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own or lease for use by their clients as well as providing internet connectivity, usually in a dedicated data center. This service is known as hosting.

A domain name is the address of your website, aka URL ( Uniform Resource Locator ) for example www.emblem.ie. Different domain name extensions have different purposes and restrictions. For instance, anyone can register a .com domain name but .ie domain names are only available to individuals or organizations based in Ireland that have a proven relationship with their chosen domain name. The domain name and extension that you choose usually depends on personal preference and availability.

This is a great question to ask and you should ask it of any web design and development firm you are considering. Many firms will farm out work to freelancers or interns. Some firms give little or no access to client’s who want to speak directly with their designers or developers. Our clients work directly with our designers, who that will be depends on your project needs and what stage of the process you are in during the project.

We start with a brief 15-30 minute phone call to get to know you, your project and requirements. Then we will schedule a formal Exploration Meeting where we’ll visit your business, scope out your project, discuss design direction and clarify your goals, among other items. After that meeting we’ll provide a detailed Proposal, a list of project requirements and tasks,  including estimated costs, project start date, timeline, and a strategic launch plan.

A website can reach millions of people that might otherwise not be available to you, think of it as a store front on a global scale, open 24 hours a days, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Secondly, customers can view products, services, contact details or whatever you wish to share from the comfort of their own home and at their own leisure. Your website empowers your current customers and maximizes marketing potential for future ones. No matter what type of business you are in, a web presence is a vital part of  your marketing growth.
